Class will be held at The Rabbit's Lair upstairs.
Two blocks will be made in class, and a fabric kit will be provided for those blocks. Once you have registered for the class, the fabric kit will be sent.
This quilt was recently featured in the December/January issue of "Quilter's Newsletter Magazine". Learn to make half-square triangles on point.
Finished quilt is 55" x 65"
This lively, happy quilt is made from 10 pairs of blocks (20 total) with each pair made from a different bright print. Use one cream solid in all the blocks and for the borders. The pieced border is made from squares cut from the leftover bright prints. If you prefer, you can substitute one multicolor print for the border squares, in which case you will need 1/2 yard of this print.
Supplies Needed for Class:
- Donna's book On Point Patchwork
- Omnigrid On-Point Ruler
- Cream colored cotton thread and pre-wound bobbin
- seam ripper, pins, regular sewing supplies
- Rotary mat, rotary cutter with sharp blade
- 6" x 12" regular rotary cutting ruler
If you would like to purchase fabrics for the complete quilt, here are the materials needed:
Yardage based on 42" wide fabric
3 1/2 yards cream solid
1 fat quarter each of ten bright prints
5/8 yard for binding
5 1/2 yards for backing
Pre-cutting for Class:
We will work on one or two pairs of blocks in class, therefore you only need to prepare and precut two bright prints for class. Please bring the following pre-cut pieces to class. Bring the leftovers to class so you can cut the pieces needed from the On-Point ruler in class.
From two bright prints cut:
1 square, 2 3/4" x 2 3/4". Cut the square diagonally to make 4 quarter square triangles
1 strip, 2 3/8" x 21", crosscut into 8 squares
From the cream solid, cut:
2 strips, 2 3/4" x 42", crosscut into 28 squares. Cut 20 squares in half once diagonally to make 40 half-square triangles. Cut 8 squares twice diagonally to make 32 quarter-square triangles.
Class limited to 6 students.
